Updates from MOM on COMPASS

May 3, 2023

What is COMPASS?

A new points-based Complementarity Assessment Framework (COMPASS) that will apply to new Employment Pass (EP) applications from 1 Sep 2023, and to EP renewals from 1 Sep 2024.

COMPASS is part of a two-stage eligibility framework for EP holders. In addition to meeting the qualifying salary (Stage 1), EP candidates must score sufficient points under COMPASS (Stage 2).

COMPASS considers both individual and firm-related attributes to holistically evaluate an EP candidate’s complementarity to Singapore’s workforce.

What can I do to get ready for COMPASS?

To prepare for COMPASS, you are encouraged to use the Workforce Insights tool on MyMOM Portal (https://go.gov.sg/mymom-portal) to assess how your future EP applications will fare under the firm-level criteria of COMPASS. It is important to ensure that your firm’s sector is correctly classified. Incorrect classification could result in work pass delays or rejections when COMPASS is implemented from 1 Sep 2023.

You can share the Workforce Insights tool infographics with others, and tell them how to use the tool to plan their workforce.

Look out for our new Self-Assessment Tool

From 1 Aug 2023, you can also log in to use our new Self-Assessment Tool (SAT). The enhanced SAT will give you a clear indication of whether a candidate meets both the EP qualifying salary and COMPASS criteria before you submit an EP application.

Still not clear about COMPASS, or wish to find out more?
