SUMMARY:Regional Finance & Tax Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:“An Overview of Taxation & Recent Tax Developments in Vietnam and Myanmar”\nOn the 13th of June\, the Regional Finance & Tax Committee met to discuss issues and challenges in Myanmar and Vietnam. \nAs these countries continue to generate high interest among investors and continue to be perceived as high-risk but also high-reward jurisdictions\, the session provided a forum to share experiences. \nFor this session we had the pleasure to host as Guest Speaker Mr Bernard Cobarrubias\, Regional Tax Director at DFDL. \nMr Cobarrubias\, offered an overview of recent developments and compare the tax policies and priorities of each country – from local tax laws governing income tax\, value added tax and other taxes to cross-border tax issues. We explored how their similar goals of lowering the tax rate while broadening the tax base\, are put into action. We also looked into how effective their tax policies are in attracting foreign investments while also battling the so-called “tax cheats.” \nFollowing the presentation\, we had a Q&A\, where members were able to engage in an open discussion. \nThis meeting was for EuroCham Members only.\n \n \n

SUMMARY:Drones Working Group
DESCRIPTION:On the 4th of May\, EuroCham hosted the first meeting for a new working group on the advancements of drone technology and its implications here in Singapore. Drones like many other disruptive technologies out there are reshaping how the marketplace operates. \n \n \nDrones have progressed from something that were only used by hobbyists and militaries to having real world applications by many industries in the private sector. EuroCham has decided to create a working group from our members from many different industries effected by drones\, such as insurance\, e-commerce\, transportation\, delivery services\, as well as other\, to bring together all of different information and interests into one forum. Hopefully by doing so we will be able to create a platform in which to advance the utilization of the technology here in Singapore. \n
