SUMMARY:HR Committee meeting
DESCRIPTION:From Engagement to Employee Experience \n \n \n \nOn the 7th of April\, the Human Resources Committee heard from Mr Bernard Coulaty\, who has written an excellent book on employee engagement and the employee experience. We also heard from Ms Pallavi Srivistrava\, on why IBM has taken the initiative to focus on the Employee Experience and what are the tool practices and measures they use to enhance the experience of work at IBM. \n \n \n \nAbout: Most companies today use engagement as a metric for measuring quality of their workforce. However\, the concept has always been suspect as an objective metric. The logic is that employees are expected to engage completely with their companies…but how do you measure engagement? By the number of discretionary hours employees are willing to work? By what they say? By their positive team spirit or by their replies to engagement questionnaires? Engagement is now being replaced by a more holistic understanding of the moral contract between employees and companies. Employee experience is like corporate culture- it requires metrics that are qualitative and each company has to define what the experience should be.  Today\, advanced HR professionals are using the concept of Employee Experience as a leading indicator. For companies like IBM\, as we shall see\, the Employee Experience is at the core of the company brand and value position. \n \n \n \n \n \nGuest Speakers: \n \n \n \nPanelists 1: Mr Bernard Coulaty \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nInternational VP HR\, Author&Speaker \n \n \n \nBernard has extensive HR experience from his leadership positions at Pernod Ricard and Danone. He has published a book on engagement and has been President of HR Committee at the French Chamber in Hong Kong. Bernard gave away 30 free copies of his book “New Deal of Employee Engagement” to members that attended the session. He showed a 4 minute video clip and presented the change in HR in about 15 minutes. \n \n \n \n  \nPanelist 2: Ms Pallavi Srivastava \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nAsia Pac&Greater China Talent Leader\, Global Technology Services\, IBM \n \n \n \nPallavi is responsible for Leadership development\, and succession planning\, leveraging Talent analytics for defining and executing strategic initiatives\, fostering engagement and high performance culture across Asia Pac and Greater China countries. She has been one of the HR leaders at IBM in the employee experience\, an initiative that was started 3 years ago. Pallavi is often invited to speak at several international conferences. \n \n\n  \n \n \n  \n \n \nThis meeting was for EuroCham Members only. \n \n

SUMMARY:Financial Services Committee Meeting
DESCRIPTION:On the 30th of September 2016\, the Financial Services Committee has the privilege of hosting a special closed door session on the The Risk-Based Capital (RBC2) with MAS. \nGuest presenter: Ms Wai Yi Lee\, Director & Head of Supervisory Analytics Division\, Insurance Department\, Monetary Authority of Singapore. Ms Lee will present insights over the preparation of QIS 2 and RBC2.\n \n \nMs. Wai Yi has been with the MAS for over ten years. She started heading a newly formed division\, Supervisory Analytics Division\, within the Insurance Department in MAS in the beginning of 2011. Her role involves enhancing the Risk-Based Capital framework for insurers in Singapore (“RBC 2 Review”)\, conducting stress-testing on insurers\, monitoring the macroeconomic inter-linkages between insurance and other financial sectors and providing other forms of actuarial and analytics support to the insurance supervisors within MAS. Prior to this\, Wai Yi was responsible for leading a team of officers in supervising a portfolio of direct life and composite insurers in Singapore. She was\, and continues to be in some cases\, actively involved in a number of projects such as enhancing the policy owners’ protection scheme and insurance resolution framework in Singapore\, key executive persons’ approval regime as well as the governance and disclosure framework for participating life insurance policies. Wai Yi had also undertaken actuarial roles such as product development\, pricing\, valuation and financial reporting\, with a composite insurer and a regional office of a global reinsurer prior to joining MAS as a regulator. \nDuring this session members will have the opportunity to gain insights but also engage in a discussion on the topic. \nBackground: MAS has recently launched the second round of consultation seeking feedback on the RBC2 draft. This consultation paper sets out the revised proposals\, taking into account the feedback received from the second consultation paper on MAS’ review of the RBC framework (“RBC 2”) in 2014\, as well as the subsequent engagements MAS had with the industry. It contains detailed technical specifications for insurers to conduct the second full scope Quantitative Impact Study (“QIS 2”). MAS invites comments from the insurance industry and other interested parties. \nThis meeting is forEuroCham Members only. \n  \nShould you be interested in attending\, please contact the Policy & Corporate Affairs Manager\, Mr Yiannis Korkovelos at yiannis.korkovelos@eurocham.org.sg
