SUMMARY:BREXIT: The EU and Asia Beyond the Referendum
DESCRIPTION:BREXIT: The EU and Asia Beyond the Referendum \nMuch buzz about how British voters are now regretting their vote to leave the European Union (EU) has gained traction in the local media. Nevertheless\, newly elected British Prime Minister Theresa May has made it clear that the “Brexit” decision is final. Having recently started her first of many international trips to France and Germany\, Prime Minister May now treads on a delicate web of political and economic issues in hope of cementing this watershed decision made on 23rd June 2016. \nIn Singapore\, Britain’s exit from the EU has afflicted apprehension in many businesses. The UK offers a convenient gateway for Singaporean and regional businesses to enter the EU consumer market. Has the Brexit prompted many companies to rethink their business operations and strategy in light of new economic and political risks that emerge from this development? \nOn the 26th of August\, EuroCham organised an event on the impacts of “Brexit” in Singapore and for other ASEAN markets. This event not only addressed the issues arising from “Brexit” from a policy-making angle but also commercial angle and one of assessment with some medium mitigation factors. \nWe were pleased to have H.E. Dr. Michael Pulch\, EU Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation to Singapore\, who shared his thoughts in an opening speech.  This was followed by a discussion with Ms. Marie Diron\, Senior Vice President Sovereign Risk Group at Moody’s Investors Services and Mr. Chris Humphrey\, Executive Director of EU-ASEAN Business Council who shared their expertise and thoughts during a panel discussion. In addition\, Mr. Andrew Naylor\,  Executive Director at Cicero Group will also took part in the panel discussion and gave us an overview of the political drivers and the impact that Brexit has had. \nThis event is exclusively for EuroCham members only. \n  \n  \n  \n  \nAbout the speakers: \nH.E.
