SUMMARY:REGIONAL OUTLOOK SERIES: “An Overview of Taxation & Recent Tax Developments in Vietnam and Myanmar”
DESCRIPTION:On the 13th of June\, the Regional Finance & Tax Committee will meet to discuss issues and challenges in Myanmar and Vietnam. \nAs these countries continue to generate high interest among investors and continue to be perceived as high-risk but also high-reward jurisdictions\, the session will be a forum to share experiences. \nFor this session we have the pleasure to host as Guest Speaker Mr Bernard Cobarrubias\, Regional Tax Director at DFDL. \nMr Cobarrubias\, will offer an overview of recent developments and compare the tax policies and priorities of each country – from local tax laws governing income tax\, value added tax and other taxes to cross-border tax issues. We will explore how their similar goals of lowering the tax rate while broadening the tax base\, are put into action. We will look into how effective their tax policies are in attracting foreign investments while also battling the so-called “tax cheats.” \nFollowing the presentation\, a Q&A will take place for members to engage in an open discussion. \nThis meeting is for EuroCham Members only.\n \n \nShould you be interested in attending\, please contact Clara Patracone at events@eurocham.org.sg
