SUMMARY:Singapore’s continued success: Opportunities from Iskandar Malaysia
DESCRIPTION:On the 30th of August\, EuroCham Singapore\, in collaboration with EU Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry will organize a discussion on opportunities in Iskandar Malaysia. A panel of experts will provide their opinions for the development of businesses in this attractive and strategic location. \nSingapore’s economy sky rocketed over the last decades and became the world’s fourth prosperous nation measured on GDP per capital. Inevitably\, experts foresee a challenge in long term sustainability. \nThe strategic location of the southern growth corridor\, Iskandar Malaysia\, in the hinterland of Singapore aims to establish an integrated region and assist to overcome Singapore’s growth prospects and challenges. \nThe most attractive factor is Iskandar Malaysia’s strategic location\, particularly its close proximity to Singapore. There are significant opportunities for companies to benefit from the Singapore market\, as well as others in the Asia-Pacific region\, while maintaining a Malaysian cost structure. \nAnd in line with the broad economic development plan for Malaysia\, as a whole\, one of the areas identified for high-value growth in Iskandar Malaysia includes Global Business Services (GBS) and shared services -related activities. Thus\, companies that choose to locate GBS operations in the area can capitalize on the nearshore opportunities\, as well as regional market access\, all while taking advantage of the talent\, infrastructure\, competitive-cost and liveability factors in Iskandar Puteri. \nPlease see below for the programme. \n \nPictures of the event:

SUMMARY:REGIONAL OUTLOOK SERIES: “An Overview of Taxation & Recent Tax Developments in Vietnam and Myanmar”
DESCRIPTION:On the 13th of June\, the Regional Finance & Tax Committee will meet to discuss issues and challenges in Myanmar and Vietnam. \nAs these countries continue to generate high interest among investors and continue to be perceived as high-risk but also high-reward jurisdictions\, the session will be a forum to share experiences. \nFor this session we have the pleasure to host as Guest Speaker Mr Bernard Cobarrubias\, Regional Tax Director at DFDL. \nMr Cobarrubias\, will offer an overview of recent developments and compare the tax policies and priorities of each country – from local tax laws governing income tax\, value added tax and other taxes to cross-border tax issues.
