SUMMARY:International Regulatory Trends on Health\, Safety and Environment
DESCRIPTION:After a successful talk with Mr Gerard Forlin\, Queen’s Counsel\, who shared his views with EuroCham Members on International Regulatory Trends\, the UK Bribery Act and recent anti-corruption regulations of the European Commission\, EuroCham has arranged another Breakfast Talk where Mr Forlin will cover some of the same topics and he will also share his broad knowledge on topics related to health\, safety and environmental trends in the European Union\, the UK and the Asia Pacific region. \nThe speaker: Mr. Gerard Forlin QC \n \nGerard Forlin was educated at Trinity Hall\, University of Cambridge\, and the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He was called to the Bar by Lincoln’s Inn and appointed Queen’s Counsel (QC) in 2010 in both Civil and Criminal Law. He has consulted\, lectured and practiced in over 35 countries and has been involved in over 300 fatality cases.\n \nMr Forlin’s areas of expertise in which he acts globally\, include the following:\nRegulatory\, specialising in health and safety and corporate and gross negligence manslaughter\, disaster litigation\, aviation railways\, shipping safety\, diving\, oil and gas\, environmental crime\, construction\, professional discipline\, public inquiries\, fraud\, regulatory offences\, product liability\, healthcare\, commercial fishing (EU)\, consumer crime\, licensing\, corruption and bribery\, waste offences\, human rights and inquests.\n \nHe has recently been appointed to an International Mediation and Arbitration panel of 14 worldwide Members for the Royal Aeronautical Society. DESCRIPTION:The EuroCham Financial Services Group is delighted to invite you to a City of London Corporation lunch on international financial centres – G20 regulatory developments and market trends. Mark Boleat Chairman of the City of London’s policy committee will be presenting. Mark is currently Chairman of the Channel Islands Competition and Regulatory Authorities and the States of Jersey Development Company. He is also a former director-general of the Association of British Insurers\, Building Societies Association and Council of Mortgage Lenders. \nThe presentation and discussion will cover how international financial centres around the world are developing\, the impact of regulatory changes and new opportunities arising from market developments such as the internationalisation of China’s markets and the rise of Asia. The presentation will also look at how key financial centres such as Singapore and London could cooperate more and grow their relationship.\n \nMark Boleat has been Chairman of the Policy and Resources Committee of the City of London since May 2012\, leadingon strategy\, resource allocation and engagement with legislators and regulators in the UK\, Europe and across the world on policy issues affecting London as a key international financial centre. This also involves taking a lead on relations with local and regional government\, along with building links with other International Financial Centres such as New York\, Beijing\, Shanghai and Mumbai.\n \nMark Boleat holds a portfolio of public sector\, commercial and voluntary positions. He is Chairman of the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority\, the Guernsey Competition and Regulatory Authority and the States of Jersey Development Company. He has previously been Director General of the Building Societies Association\, the Council of Mortgage Lenders and the Association of British Insurers.
