Assessing the Impact for Investors of the Post-Election Political Transition \nFor the first time since Malaysia’s independence\, UMNO and its coalition Barisan Nasional (BN) have been voted out. The alliance that is taking over power\, Pakatan Harapan (PH)\, brings back together former UMNO stalwarts and then political opponents\, Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Anwar Ibrahim. \nWhile the transition to a new government is progressing smoothly\, the reshuffle of the country’s ruling elite is creating significant uncertainty. It remains unclear to what extent PH will now seek to overturn BN’s policies\, whether in relation to trade\, investment and the economy\, or to the country’s foreign policy including towards China. \nThe seminar will shed light on the political and social dynamics behind the earth-shattering election’s results. It will also provide insights on Malaysia’s new leadership.
