DESCRIPTION:As an initiative of the Regional Tax Committee\, EuroCham will host the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) where officials will brief members on the BEPS Action 5 platform and new IP development incentives available to businesses.\nUpdates on Singapore’s participation at the BEPS Action 5 Platform and the new IP Development Incentive \nSynopsis: \nSingapore joined the inclusive framework for the global implementation of the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) project in June 2016. The sharing by the Singapore Economic Development Board provides updates on Singapore’s participation at the BEPS Action 5 platform for countering harmful tax practices\, and also gives an overview of the new IP Development Incentive\, which was introduced in Budget 2017. \nPlease RSVP by calendar invite or by writing to Mr. Elgin Seah at elgin.seah@eurocham.org.sg. SUMMARY:The European Union as a Global Actor - RSIS Distinguished Public Lecture by Her Excellency Federica Mogherini
DESCRIPTION:In her first public lecture in Singapore\, the European Union’s foreign policy chief and Vice-President of the European Commission\, H.E. Federica Mogherini\, will engage with students on the EU’s place amidst an increasingly volatile international order and will discuss the ways in which the EU continues to develop enduring partnerships across the globe. The EU High Representative/Vice-President\, who is participating in the ASEAN Regional Forum in Singapore\, will address some of the challenges facing the world today\, including regional conflicts\, nuclear proliferation\, and migration\, as well as the need to defend and support the rules-based multilateral system\, open and fair trade\, and sustainable development. With Singapore currently holding the chairmanship of ASEAN and taking on the role of EU-ASEAN Coordinator in August\, Federica Mogherini will also outline the European Union’s increased engagement with Asian partners over the past years\, particularly on climate change\, connectivity and security\, as well as discuss opportunities for enhanced cooperation in the future. \nAbout the Speaker \nFederica Mogherini is the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission. She has held this position since 1st November 2014. \nShe previously served as the Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs from February to October 2014\, and was elected as a Member of the Italian Parliament in 2008. She was also the Head of the Italian Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and Vice-President of its Political Committee (2013-2014)\, Secretary of the Defence Committee (2008-2013)\, and member of the Foreign Affairs Committee. DESCRIPTION:Supporting Women entrepreneurship is key to building an inclusive innovative world across ASEAN. Our mission with Women’s Forum Singapore is to contribute to strengthening women’s economic empowerment by improving access and support in building and developing their own ideas. Among the identified barriers blocking women to undertake and succeed in building a company is the lack of access to finance and markets\, as well as limited education and training in starting\, managing\, and growing a business. \nLinked to the Women’s Forum Singapore and in partnership with INSEAD and Facebook Singapore\, the purpose of this event is to help a selected number of women-led start-ups in ASEAN to achieve success.
