Sustainability Awards 2020 Virtual Seminar
The European Chamber of Commerce, Singapore held its EuroCham Sustainability Awards 2020 at a virtual seminar which took place at 4 pm SGT/ 9 am CEST on 17th November 2020.
Attendees included Guest-of-Honour, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Grace Fu Hai Yien, and Ambassador of the European Union to Singapore, Barbara Plinkert. President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen also gave her remarks at the start of the seminar.

EuroCham Singapore Announces Winners of The EuroCham Sustainability Awards 2020
The inaugural EuroCham Sustainability Awards recognized companies for their sustainability efforts in the five categories: Circular Economy, Green Finance, Smart Mobility, Clean and Efficient Energy, and Sustainable Food and Nutrition. These categories represent strategic areas common to both the European Union (EU) Commission’s European Green Deal and Singapore’s Sustainability Concept Plan.
The winners of each category are:
- Circular Economy – Evonik (SEA) Pte Ltd
- Green Finance – ING Bank N.V., Singapore Branch
- Smart Mobility – Michelin/ Société Des Matières Premières Tropicales Pte Ltd
- Clean and Efficient Energy – City Developments Limited
- Sustainable Food and Nutrition – Yara Asia Pte. Ltd

A total of 29 nominations were evaluated by a distinguished panel of industry leaders and sustainability experts, including Mr Loh Boon Chye, Chief Executive Officer at Singapore Exchange (SGX) and Mr Gianfranco Casati, Chief Executive Officer, Growth Markets, Accenture.
Both judges were clearly pleased with the quality of the submissions and how the awards were able to cut across such a broad spectrum to show the progress made in sustainability across industries.

The Sustainability Whitebook 2020/2021
EuroCham Launches The Sustainability Whitebook 2020/2021
The Sustainability Whitebook outlines the common interest in sustainability that the EU shares with Singapore, efforts at EuroCham to advocate for a more sustainable future, and European companies positioned to lead the journey to greater sustainability. In doing so, it aims to present the many ways in which European and Singaporean companies can work together in the common pursuit of “Excellence in Sustainability”.
The Whitebook includes:
- Position papers and a report covering key areas of cooperation between European companies and Singaporean authorities and regulators,
- The European Sustainability in Singapore Report 2020 assessing the sustainability credentials of one hundred senior leaders of European organisations in Singapore; and
- A series of articles featuring European and Singaporean companies at the forefront of sustainability.
